The Book Treasure was established with the desire to remind new generations of the great wealth and wisdom that can be gathered from the literary adventures of people throughout the ages. The name itself comes from the historical Biblical account of High Priest Hilkiah in 2 Kings 22:8 through 13:
8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
9 And Shaphan the scribe came to the king, and brought the king word again, and said, Thy servants have gathered the money that was found in the house, and have delivered it into the hand of them that do the work, that have the oversight of the house of the Lord.
10 And Shaphan the scribe shewed the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath delivered me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
11 And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.
12 And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Michaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asahiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
13 Go ye, enquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according unto all that which is written concerning us.
…..and it says almost the exact same thing in 2 Chronicles 34:14 through 21.
Notice the reaction of the King and the people around him when he read the contents of the Book that Hilkiah found in the Treasure Room. This is the reason for the title of this blog, that this and future generations will come back to a time where we had a Biblical foundation that we treasured, instead of a post-modern society that has turned it’s back on God. Feel free to check out some of our reviews or comment what you thought of it as well.
Meet Our Writers:
R.A.D.- Ray Alphonso Drake is on a journey to the celestial city. He sees parallels in his own life to the events in Pilgrim’s Progress and tries to handle each event with the right response according to his scroll… er… Bible. He is an entrepreneur at heart and has a new hair brained scheme cooked up weekly (nearly approximate). He tends to focus on strategy and logic too much, but comes back to reality and trusts in the Lord before things go too far. He seeks to maintain the armor of God by plugging into scripture and hiding the word of God in his heart. To his own shame, he knows more about movies and music than books, but he endeavors to read when he has time (ha ha ha ha).
G.L.A.D.- Gladys Lee Ann Dart is a voracious book eater, er reader, and aspires to one day be a published author. She is a daughter of the King and loves to talk about Him to anyone who will listen (and sometimes even if they won’t). She also loves reading….pretty much anything; fiction, non-fiction, poetry, adventure, sci-fi (well, sorta), fantasy. As long as it doesn’t go against her faith, and as long as it’s clean (no sex, minimal cursing/swearing, etc.).
She loves to write when she has time -reviews, poems, short stories and more. 😉 Perhaps one day she’ll put a story on here for you all. 🙂
J.O.Y.- is a daughter of her King and Savior and desires to please Him in all she does.
She loves to read, write and draw and her favorite past time is curling up with a book and a cup of tea. Her favorite genre to read is always the classical or historical books. She enjoys reviewing books for y’all (when she remembers to) and hopes to someday publish her own book as well.
Tillie Munsford- A cup of tea and a good book, (usually an older one), are the things that she enjoys doing in her free time-although she is also a person of many varied hobbies and enjoyments, some of which include writing, adventuring with the family, and playing music.
To please her Savior and Best Friend in all things is a burning desire, and to be more like Him each day.
One day she hopes to have books with her name on them published, Until then, she keeps scribbling away!
